Let Your Kingdom Come

"Let your kingdom come!" Let your kingdom come we pray, these words of the Lord's prayer Are these mere words of fantasy, left hanging in the air? Do you understand the meaning, of "Let your kingdom come"? It's a petition for God's government, to rule over everyone! Millions of times over generations, these words have been spoken But, hopes and dreams of a better world, are left shattered and broken Is it in vain Jesus taught us to pray this invocation? Or will it come in our lifetime and give birth to celebration? John Derek Hamilton November 07,2020

It is not often I read someone pointing to the meaning of this key biblical instruction; well done John.

Thanks Flo, yeah we have to keep praying for God's kingdom to come, and all the difficulties we experience from imperfect human rule will be gone, and paradise on earth restored! What a wonderful hope! Have a great day! JD

I found the essence of your prayer in these words: .....But, hopes and dreams of a better world, are left shattered and broken....Lovely sentiments, John, no matter which faith or religion people believe in.

It's true Vijay, God's kingdom will bring blessings to the whole world, a world united in peace and brotherhood. The colloquial English expression till kingdom come means never, and so it goes people have lost hope waiting two thousand years for the kingdom to come. Glad you came by today, I always appreciate your visits!

The Lord's Prayer is special and said by Catholics as well as Protestants. I see your understanding of "Thy kingdom come on Earth as it is in heaven" and it's a good interpretation. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have such a loving Father guiding us through life on Earth? Awesome poem, John. Will save it in my faves as one of the best poems of faith I've ever read. Hugs, Carolyn

Wow thanks Carolyn for such an enthusiastic response, the prayer finishes "your will be done ON EARTH as it is in heaven, so it's true what a wonderful world here on earth when his kingdom comes! Thanks also for the fave!
