The Heart, a Feral Beast

The heart, a feral beast

The heart, an indigent and feral beast,
Is a wily and treacherous creature
Enticing me to act on base instincts,
Who is the slave and who is the master?

Your heart will lead the way. Yes, it will. Sometimes though- the heart gets broken, because you followed it. Always be careful. ~ Brandy

Thanks Brandy indeed it can lead us away from doing what is right, then we face the undesired consequences, the conscience (if trained) is a much better guide.

I believe each human has been ruled by this creature called heart at some point or the other. Strange how we think brain is the master of the body. Loved your thought provoking muse John. Congratulations on your win! Keep writing and inspiring :)

Many of us are ruled by the heart, John. I love the way you describe it as "an indigent and feral beast." Congratulations on your win!

Thanks Michael, so many say follow your heart, and then after a disastrous outcome, they realize the heart is treacherous, the Bible never lies Jer17:9

So succinctly expressed, John--we can all relate to the power.. heart has over us. Great ending line.

Thanks Vijay, it's common to hear follow your heart as good advice, I disagree, the heart is a treacherous creature.

I like the intensity of this, especially 'wily and treacherous creature' (I think we are more primitive than we wish to believe) - best wishes for the contest-
