Earthly Paradise
Earthly paradise
If you read Psalms 37:10,11, 29 it shows a wonderful hope of a time soon to come when there will be no more wicked to ruin the earth. It describes how the "righteous will possess the earth and live forever upon it".
It may seem hard to believe but think about this: What was God's purpose for the earth and for humans? Did not God command that Adam and Eve fill the earth and subdue it? What would the world be like if Adam and Eve didn't disobey? They would still be alive today living in paradise, the Garden of Eden would have expanded to be a worldwide paradise. If they continued obedient, their perfect bodies would keep sustaining them eternally. Remember God mentioned the possibility of death only if they disobeyed, implying that if they continued obedient they would never die at all.
So if God purposed that the earth be turned into a paradise under perfect human dominion, did his purpose change? No! Essentially the theme of the Bible is from paradise lost to paradise regained. If you were given a choice to live under imperfect rule by humans with no hope for eternal life, and living a plagued existence like we do today full of problems, or a happy peaceful life on a paradise earth what would you choose?
If you read Jesus model prayer at Matt6:10 "Let your kingdom come, let your will be done ON EARTH as it is in heaven" does not that prayer indicate that when God's kingdom (government) takes control of earths affairs, and God's will, is done, then paradise-like conditions will prevail ON EARTH.
The hope of life in heaven was not originally God's purpose for humans, we were created to live on the earth forever. If you read Psalm115:16 it says"As for the heavens they belong to Jehovah (God) but the earth he has given to the sons of men". Even Jesus own words at Matthew 5:3,5 describe two hopes for the faithful, vs 3 describes inheriting the kingdom of heaven, vs 5 describes "Happy are the meek since they will inherit the EARTH".
Unfortunately for those who are unbelievers, this will not be their reality. We must live our lives in dedicated service to God, wholly obedient to Him, with full faith in Jesus ransom sacrifice, then, this could be our future!
