Here In the Dark

Here in the dark Verse 1 You're always there in my darkest hour, A star that lights my way And in the morning after I awake I see that you're still here Pre-chorus I just wanted you to know that you're everything to me Everything to me Chorus And here in the dark, that's where you shine so bright Yeah here in the dark, You illuminate my night Verse 2 I face the laughter of this jeering brood, They hope it bothers me Incessant critics of the cruelest kind Sends me into a somber mood Pre-chorus Oh how their laughter makes them look insane I wish they'd fade away wish they'd fade away Verse 3 I raise my eyes to a blackened sky there's no light to lead the way What has happened to my northern star? Please don't ever go away Chorus And here in the dark that's where you shine so bright Yeah here in the dark You illuminate my life Verse 4 It's two days now since you've gone away And everything is dark I always thought that you'd always stay The emptiness is stark Pre-chorus I thought that you understood that you're everything to me everything to me Chorus 2 Now here in the dark there's no one shining bright Yeah now here in the dark Your light no longer shines Your light no longer shines... Your light no longer shines... John Derek Hamilton August 5,2023

Dear John, your lyrical pen laments the loss of a love or a muse or a spiritual presence with anguished beauty. Rich imagery filled with emotion. "Yeah now here in the dark / Your light no longer shines". The sad bewildering feeling of loss and abandonment is palpable. So great to see you posting again, John. Warmest wishes my friend.. ~Susan
