Remembering Yesterday

Chores wait to be done
The orchard needs harvesting...
Fragrance of apple
greets me with warm memory
Ladders rest against the trees

The porch is laden
With soggy leaves and debris
Quail scratch at the dirt
The door squeaks when I enter,
The autumn sun fills the room

From grimy windows
I watch the breeze stir whirlwinds
Leaves fall like snowflakes
I rest my head against the glass
and remember yesterday

A Halloween birthday Tanka

Oh Halloween babe
born under October's moon
weave with forlornment
your bewitching adornment
of a harvest leaf festoon.

Faces in pumpkins
awake memories of when
the children were young;
and "Trick-or-Treat!" rung
the holiday season in.

Scorpio woman
wipe away your wistful tear
and tend to the craft
of your birthday draught
to toast your forty-first year.

Photographic Memory

All points meet at you~
the sky, the sun, the water.
A still photograph
holds my happiness in ink.
I pretend that you still smile.

A magic moment
along today’s ardent street
the application
old folk holding hands pass by...
many issues spring to mind.

My Worst poem -September comes (Repost)

September comes
Makes me a year older
I take colours of
The falling leaves
In my autumnal days.

See the mid-night moon
Of September sky.
How we fornicated
Till the early hours of
October Sun.

Ninth place in the contest

night touches wind, cold

pale buds drop like tattered hems

         in slow procession,

as gray of frothy breeze wraps...

 the desolate autumn view.

a time to reflect

one hour alone motionless in bath water... mirrored on water is the sun of a childhood reflected in ripples of time I see my father a chain saw, a pile of wood mother is sewing patches on the family jeans.... swirling quickly, down the drain ~

by the old levee
summer's caressing breezes
off the mudriver
whisper so lachrymosely
southern painful centuries

A Change of Seasons

Persuaded by time, clothed in rust, night reveals a lonely Halloween... Illusions of my childhood drift away with falling leaves

Time for a Wish

cold white moonlight drapes
diamonds all around me
dances with shadows
as curtains move with the wind
time to make that perfect wish
