Our town had a monkey named Kong
who loved to croon and tweak a song.
   Though notes were a flop
    his ratings soared up,
and won as King of Sing- Along!

There once was a banshee called Anno,
Who was learning to play the piano.
She was doomed to fail,
And started to wail -
And now she’s a world class soprano.

The Monster Mash

< dancing to the hit song monster mash
frankenstein and werewolf got real smashed
                                took the witches culdeen
                                and boiled up mummys spleen
Quasimodo joined in on the bash

witches brew of brains spleens gizzards hearts
                                illuminates party from it's start
                                Dracula and zombies
                                lurking for free bodies
poor old frankie's wife just fell apart

the bewitching dance came to its end
when bats flew in frenzy around den
                               on this all hallows eve
                               trickery was up sleeve
sent my 3 black cats in to defend

Diasbled Musician

There was a disabled musician
Who stiffly played every audition.
Now recording with care,
Strumming from his armchair,
On youtube he’ll post each composition.

Zebra Star

There once was a zebra from China.
Who liked to sing songs in D minor.
    His voice was the rage
When they put him on stage.
He rode out of town a headliner!

The Trouser Snake

There once was a king cobra called Lance,
Who heard music and went in a trance.
People thought he was asleep,
As his thoughts were so deep.
Then he reared up and lunged for their pants.

Gregorian Chant Rap

Mozart composed the Jazz of his day,
Bach could Rock in the same way,
Music is music,
Melodies mimic,
Young tunes turn classical fogies’ heads gray.

The Music In Me

I have a peaceful easy feeling
As I sit and write this poem
Comprising 5 old songs
Which remind me of my home

They show me the importance
They teach me with such grace
To get up every morning
With a smile on your face

My youth was filled with ballads
Verses I could trust
And we all know what memories bring...
They bring dia-monds and rust

Songs taught me that my friends were
The wind beneath my wings
To treasure and embrace them
To value what life brings

There's a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
For me, 'bout sums it up
The hope one feels within

Sometimes a simple sound
Or smell can be so strong
It carries me back light years
To one specific song

And in that song I bask
I know what each line means
Transcended to the past
Dressed in my tie-dyed jeans.

What a Time for a Neighbour to Call

It's two thirty, there's a knock at my door Hey, it's my neighbour, what's he here for "it's so plucky of you!" Playing my Bagpipes the noo If I wasn't, then what are you here for .

there once was

there once was...

there once was a rooster from Nantucket
with vocal stylin's, it only could cluck it
it cocked and it crowed
strutin' loud 'round abode
'til the farmer's wife's axe did awestruck it

When Elvis sang he rocked and he rolled.
His fans jumped up and shimmied, I'm told.
The folks in Tupelo
got all shook up below,
like devils and demons got a hold.

Musical Mojo

I once knew a fiddler named jo jo
He chose to live life as a hobo
He traveled with freight
Through city and state
sustained by that musical mojo

Eine kleine Nachtmusic or a little serenade

Is this Mozart's musical score
Or sonata of sounds I abhor?
I have a good ear
But I'd rather not hear
The loud notes composed when you snore

To sing out the Star Spangled Banner
In the most appropriate manner
You must have four

Sing Sing Singer

I once knew a songster from Skokie
Who was thrown in the Sing Sing pokey
They claimed he was off key
And his voice was croaky
So he killed them at karaoke!

aHa: a poetic noetic instantiation in three acts

rushing inference, imminent insight suddenly its clear, a gut feeling swooning, reeling, cross-connected hemi-sphere syncopated, reverberated, totally aware open bi-ways, ahh blue-sky days, making up my mind synapses shiver, axons quiver, dendrites deliver 'lectrik-neurons fire suddenly in time aha! aha! oh gawd I see, I ran around 'n cried a fool I've been, all along its there, right in front of me with a grin 'n a nod 'n twinkly-looking 'round raised my arms 'n slapped my thighs 'n made a ruckus sound -- donned my hat 'n set it skewed upon my big bright head set off to town in an uplifted mood while whistling a sweet sound forgot what I had found # there's a hole in my head where the wounds of reason seep all words are dead inside my head what's left is dark 'n deep @ I'll always live and always die on the event horizon of my mind's eye where the flash of neuronal fires flower into sudden epiphany -- <-- youtube anim of this piece

Pianos are falling apart, The ivory keys at the start; From there to the panel, It’s too much to handle; It’s breaking the strings of my heart.

More Than Dinner Was Served

Knock knock as she opens her front door It's her beau whom now stands before With a bouquet of flowers All different colors For his girl whom he loves and adores After some chatting about this and that What a scoff I'm gonna get fat With a glass of white wine I know I'll be fine I think I've also eaten the place mat Now recovered from our earlier meal The music starts this songs our appeal Well boy can she dance Her beauties my trance So delightful in glide genteel It's now close to the end of our night Knowing something is beautifully right With a kiss on her lips Her dress gracefully slips Like a flash our engines ignite Now sprawled out on her King sized bed You can guess so much has been said Two torsos have shared So naked birth bared Unification continues when wed .

Ned's Spring

There once was a Scotsman called Ned,
Who spent all his time in his bed.
He broke yet another spring,
As he danced the Highland Fling.
‘They make beds so fragile,’ he said.

Blonde Ambition

I once had a dream of a girl that sang pop
She was only 16 dressed like a slut, so we called her prosti-tot
She went crazy and spiraled down,
Did a music video with a depressing clown
And as for the singer, Thank God! her career finally stopped

David Bowie

This idol, this man holds a place in my heart.

He speaks of Ziggy Star Dust and Major Tom, so I don't know were to start.

He played as a king of a goblin land.

Watching and listening to him makes me crumble like sand.

David Bowie s melodies and performances are genuinely an art.

Waist Deep in Rock

I'm a man of musical taste
With Classic Rock I'm very well placed
It's just the thrill of it all
     Guitar solo's enthral
But the Brandy plays havoc with my waist

As in lyrics he started to drown
Lightfoot was his surname

And the best that I heard was Sundown

Sittin on a Parkbench waitin for Jethro Tull or Jay-Z

I love a good rhythimic beat
I can imitate a drum with the pounding of my feet
Whether it's rock & roll or rap
A stadium amp or a backwards cap
Any type of music makes me get out of my seat

My Girl and I

My desire is too stroke her neck
In my mind I shall not fret
To pull her heart strings
To see what tune she so brings
Oh my fingers will trek

Against my waist she'll be so close
Her touch will excite me the most
As she brushes against me
High pitched I can be
Bodies together so in compose

As we play our audience roars
With me she continues to explore
Yes, she is my guitar
Making music we star
As we have done so many times before

"Hair of the Dog"

I have a favourite Nazareth tune.

When I sing it I must sound like a loon.

"Hair of the Dog" is the one

I sing out loudly for fun,

But the bad language makes some people swoon.
