hawkers

Hyperbole is a sports cast
Announcers have egos so vast
My ears must have rest
From this lambasting pest
Collection of morons amassed

Author's note: Is it getting worse, or is it just me?

Sleepy Sport

In our heads the season was far from over
so we played a game in late September.
He said, "before the sun sets
can we not take a rest?"
"But we already are, this is baseball remember?"

Baseball limerick

A big baseball player on pitch
Developed a strange kind of itch:
The ball flew up straight
Then down on his pate,
So he blamed the whole thing on a witch!

Batter Up

He stepped to the plate and spit on his han's.

He spit doffing his cap to cheering fans.

      Gave his privates a scratch

         Spit another huge batch,

Then knocked a home run clean outta the stan's!

Oh To Hear 'Play Ball'

Baseball is on my mind more,
When frigid winds freeze to the core,
Opening day,
Seems eons away,
Snow shovels strike out, wood bats score!

THE DISAPPOINTED BASEBALL PLAYER

Not all my hits are home runs,
many of them miss the bat;
specators respond with boos...
right there I expect to lose,
and getting angry, I toss my cap.

Opening 2013

Opening day is finally here
fans will be drinking most of the beer
Red Sox and Yankees will meet
that game should be a real treat
you’ll see how rookies deal with the fear

Independence Day

Come let's celebrate the fourth of July
With baseball, hot dogs, and Mom's apple pie
We're sure to ignite
Fireworks at night
So head on over, we'll light up the sky

So this is Golf

wait a minute this isn’t baseball
I won't be able to hit that ball
bigger than marble
unpredictable
in hole it will fall
I'll swing in that hole the ball will fall

Batter Up

Batter up was the call from the Ump
Up came a fellow who was quite plump
 The pitcher then threw
 Strike one!, then Strike two!
He missed the third ball and fell on his rump!

Take me out to the Ball Blame

It's been a long season,
With Vict'ry our reason.
Cub's baseball is always a joke.

We just needed four,
Though we wanted more,
Our victory's near we had spoke.

A billy goat ban,
Then Bartman the fan
They're reasons we like to evoke.

They may well have been,
And might come again
But the Cubs see the big one and choke.

Raul Mondesi, Jr

Raul Mondesi is back from wherever he’d been hid
Storming into the Big Leagues and making another bid
But he played over a decade ago
Guess for me time hasn’t gone slow
And the rising star this year is Mondesi’s kid

Fishy baseball

A catcher with much on his mind
approaches and asks are you blind?
control is the issue
and these are the Fish who
embody the worst of mankind.

Seventh Inning Streach

Seventh Inning Stretch Limerick Written: by Tom Wright 6-30-2016 I once knew a man, first name Harry, A “Cubbie” fan, last name was Carey. He sang at each Cub game, When the 7th inning came, And was never mistaken for a canary; “Take me out to the ball game”
