Dawn comes
On the silk route;
Sun sparkles

Tour trip explores
Vistas of China;
Old and new transits

So much to see:
Lovely landscapes;
Crowded cities morphing

Words in my journal,
Thoughts on my journey;
Miracles and mysteries

Mötley tourist crowd
Eagerly guzzling down
All things China in spring rain

We take our time,
Explore the edges;
Collect instant memories

My darling translates
Classical Chinese tongue:
Basic English field trip!

Beauty in nuances
Cryptic language profound:
Where the Middle Kingdom reigns

Memories on record,
Thought distiller in word motifs;
Celebrate and anchor

Eventful sojourn,
Spring sensations --
Mystic revelations

Just the other day,
My darling said to me:
Take another China trip?

Bio in Short

It's been a good run
To the back side of sixty,
The short side of time.

First Hollywood kiss
Behind a pink crepe myrtle.
Thanks, Patsy Werner.

High school was okay.
Didn't help me to focus;
So, my mind wandered.

Surfed Bonzai Pipeline,
Big waves break into lava.
What made me do it?

Vietnam jungles.
I wondered why I was there.
America lost.

Smoking pot. Stereo.
Good fun in the seventies.
Psychedelics too.

And three wives later,
I finally found true love.
We're still together.

My destitute heart,
Saved by the sweetest angel.
I love you, Sandy.

Sooners are my team.
Most winning football program
In the Modern Era.

I am retired now.
But I have plenty to do.
Golf, primarily.

I've been writing more.
Perhaps I will write a book.
I have many tales.

I'd chase young girls; but,
Girls with a "grampa" fetish
Are so hard to find.

If I am lucky,
I will just drop dead one day.
With my peace of mind.

Yes, made a good run
To the back side of sixty,
The short side of time.

Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Yesterday, big bites
Time flog the sweat to attempt
Killing lullaby

Today, chased the waves
Sprint lost towards to the sea
Swam and freely dove

Tomorrow, treasures

1. It's loving

Blossom merrily day
Caption to a beloved reign
And applauding way.

2. It's catchy

Schetchy scatchy love
Not catching on for far long
Just dawn to night love.

3. It's Fun

Powerful grace for peace
And reiterating Romance
Be mine tonight please?

I found the New Year weak
Laden cumberland and amber
Weeping snow from the spicy sweet shrubs
Beg as if it is a teen to absent spring
To emerge somewhere with its perfect
Beauty delight;

But when I sought to it for you,
Ah the New Year grows in front of my eyes
Like those plum-blossoms from the old garden!

PS: To all my colleagues from Poetry Soup: Have you a great beginning year!

MY ode to the Netherlands - Goeie moarn Fresia

My Shoulder

My Shoulder

My shoulders
Hold the care of someone else
No warning

Heavy weight
Responsibilities grow

Tasks for two
Now are mine to meddle through
Keep Control

All appointments and the meds

I can feel
The stress upon my shoulders
It grows now

No easy task
I strain to make the effort

Not easy either
Daily challenges await
Days go by

My love too
Struggles with both walk and talk
Stroke attack

We face all the days ahead
Not I alone

Changed views now
Our tired eyes do see the world
Moving On

And with it much confusion
Sort it out

Love is strong
Any other seems so wrong
Find a way

The days with fun and flare
Are dreams now

My shoulders
Grow strong with all they carry

Look forward
Work now toward better days

What Is Good Enough

Who sets the standard?
Who accepts this? We all do.
What is good enough?

My 'good' is your 'bad'
My best is 'mediocre'.
What is good enough?

What is good enough,
Is your best, your very best.
That is good enough

(Note: I am going on a journey to Yunnan, China
from May 18 to 28 -- to explore the wonders there.
My poetry posting will resume when I come back.)

This tour trip
Special iterinary;
Yunnan beckons

Journey into
Mysterious realms;
Places in time

China gateway
Manifold possibilities;
Fragrant surprises

Here we go again,
My sweetheart and I;
Cheer enters sweetly

Spring time
Old China moments;
Modern settings

Lovely momento
Fleeting scenes;
Formal entrance

Wonder awaits
Our wandering;
China expose

As we leave
For the airport;
Thoughts of home

This hiatus
From ordinary days;
So much to pack

Hiatus like escape
Forfeits daily routines;
Holiday diversion toil

Hiatus from posting
No online e-poetry;
Just words on paper

On the road tour
Good writes will come;
Ink stains on parchment

Till then my friends
"Thank you. Be well. God bless."
More poetry 11 days forth!

Silk Air flight
Sunday wee hours;
Off we go then

                                            on an excursion
                                     students are seen glorious
                                      their auras speak dreams

                                        few have no complain
                                    at the time of taking seats
                                            few do politics

                                     whistling train moves on
                                       talking many to other
                                         few reserve silence

                                         in all their coaches
                                  few are busy with own games
                                       few sing and few clap

                                        faces are tired now
                                      as stamina is finished
                                        journey is complete

January juxtapose
More cold now
Beyond hot heat!

Cold cold air
Windy surprise;
Minus heat therapy?

Winding way whirls
Shiver seeding shiver
January jostling juice

Lotus sunbathe --
Muddy pond flavours
Mid-afternoon glare

Whim and fancy;
Windy detours

New year in late January,
Oozing days forfeit;
Scent of the times!

Why do I
Reason with reason;
To justify nothing

Wind chimes
Breezy orchestra
Sparrow salute

Silence sways calmly;
Usher enlightenment?

How To?

Vivid wonder
In nothing new;
Only fresh eyes

One by one
Images flash by;
Like old friends

Memory swirls
Round and round;
Circles to devour!

My darling dearest
Sleep-talking again;
Smiles pay tokens

So many curves:
Drop-dead gorgeous;
No time to sip!

Deep deep dark
Catch curvy craze
Sense stillness shout

No need for nice,
Just pay the price;
Indulge sheer surprise!

Here by
Lovely, lonely shore
No one but me!

New expressway
Halting jam frustration;
Missing clear detour!

When I speak
Words do not come;
Silence stays

Fleeting dry ice,
Carbon dioxide complex

Glow in your eyes
Hint of sexy ideas --
Measured in your smile!

Love looks lovely
Rain running rowdy
Sheer shifting sights

Splendour courts,
Grandeur tiptoes ,
Silence succumbs

Igloo atmosphere
Air-con ice cold
Shivering skin tones

Tales awaiting
Weary bones;
Fireside conversations

Nature nurtures
Quaint restraint;
Silence raptures haiku

Sanguine rapture,
Observe the scenario;
Can you see now?

Pulse of new morning
Glow in your eyes;
Heart to heart

Moon glow
Aqua aura
Familiar wink

Scattering sensations
Swift spread sweetening

Slow morning edging

Wake-up call
Early morning darkness
Drowsy in dim light

Fumbling footsteps
Pre-dawn precursor
Tentative waiting

Oil painting self-talk
Kostabi's  imagery
Passageway decor

Mind the view
Pending rapture
In-transit here

Feelings surge
Raw word fumbling
Echoes in reprieve

The wind calls
Whispers your name

Look to your self
As best you can;
Then understand

When and where
And how and why
Say who and what

Frozen time
Thaws to water
Down the drain

Time equals life
Oozing away
Does it matter?

Love plays
A game;
Only fools smile gleefully!

Sand castles
Seashore artifacts;
Seagulls for company

Morning fitness run
Winding jogging track;
Pulse of adrenaline

Salty sea breeze
Coconut palms sway;
Stray voices unfurl

Flower carpet
Yellow and red hues;
Jogging track surprise

Seaside horizon
Sun and sand and mist;
Nature makes pictures

Piquant conversations
Seafront gathering;
Message in skyline

Saturday tour
Fine arts exhibits;
Innovative textures

Meeting here
With art and buffet;
Small talk punctuates

Look deeply now
So much passion;

Faces in the crowd
I seek you;
Finder's keepers

Now I can see
Your beauty smile;
My heart swells

Surge of rush
Adrenaline flood;
Fight or flight

Listen now
My lover speaks;
Heart to heart

I grow old
Older than time;
Ageless spirit

From booth to booth
We explore beauty;
Facets of delight

Small talk,
Chit-chat waters;
Big deal in small things

Look, Insight

Land Ho! It’s in sight
Illusion, it’s far away
That’s quite the insight.

From the bird above
I find the insight to recite
The feel incites me.

Look closer inside
We are there, we’ve arrived
But where have we gone?

The boat is stagnant
But we are up and about
That’s quite the insight.
