Word Morph - Less is More

MORE trinkets and gadgets meant to distract;
MOTE in our eyes to obscure a sad fact.
MATE to procreate? Our instincts deceive.
LATE to arrive: you can have what we leave!
LANE-change is coming, can you see the sign?
LONE efforts have value when they combine.
LOSE your love for commercial sedation;
LOST souls wake with renewed fascination.
LOSS and gain are delusions of birthright;
LESS is more; will we ever see the light?

(Note: I began this poem with a word game
where I started with the word "More" and changed
one letter at a time to transition to the word “Less”.
Each word in this transition became the first
word in each line of the poem.)
