The old inn

the old building
with an antique sign
revealing its name
"the old lodge"

on the outside
walls built
with brown bars
and white squares
almost faded words
revealing an existence
over four centuries

wooden floors are crooked
walls are skewed
the steps of the stairs
create dizziness
a room door clamps
the small window
opens squeaked
the fresh evening air
dispels the musty smell

downstairs again
the lady of the house
so sweet
hot coffee
a large pot
and for free
a burning candle
on the table

two tired travelers
by hospitality
