SYLLABLE COUNT

since most of my recent challenges are based on syllables, i am now realizing that websites have different counters....

the most reliable one is www.howmanysyllables.com which was recommended by a good friend, kashinath ...

the word ' PIER' contains one syllable and while judging my last contest, a few missed this... likewise, i emailed TPS as a winner, Dr. Ram Mehta was not included in the winning list, no matter how i tried to post his entry. " Evening On The Pier"...he won 3rd place, so let's congratulate him for a job well done!..

special citation goes to Frederick Parker for his splendid work, except for a 7--syl line...

thank you for supporting this creative exercise... you were all incredible !

( i went for those who gave me a heart-kick and considered my criteria for judging)...

if you have any suggestions regarding the accuracy of syl counts, o let us know through a friendly discussion...

congrats to all participants; you are all winners in my heart!..

my new challenge is now posted... it's another poetic ride based on, well, syllabic requirements!... join in ,dear soupers!...i'm into this brevity mode of late... huggs!

Sweet Nette,Firstly hope all is well where you live.I read a post from Nikko re Philippines which makes me concerned.Re contests -I hardly ever participate in contests,though I did participate in one of yours in the past and it was fun,yet I'm still glad I got to read this blog and am sure the syllable link would be quite useful.Tnks for sharing and Congrats. to all winners : )

The site you provided was really helpful. I found out that syllable count is different from pronunciation of words. Quite interesting, Nette. Special applause to winners and to Frederick. Thank you!

I also have a hard time logging on soup, lessening my visits here. Regarding syllable counts, I use the dictionary sites which are probably effective. Next time, I'll try your suggestion, Nette and will join your new contest. Congratulations!

Nette, I don't use the syllable counters, but I've been doing them for you the past few times just for the heck of it. The one you had two contests ago was a very nice one. Is it different from the one in this contest? Congrats to all the winners of that last great contest and thanks for my win.

Thanx nette for your placement. I usually use the syllable counter provided by the poetrysoup.com as one of its resources unless otherwise asked by the contest sponsor. In future, I will follow howmanysyllables.com if it has been found to be more accurate. Also, nette, could we not ask poetrysoup.com to provide a link to it within the site, may be through you?
