we all have pity parties and lonely moments... these are times when i curl in fetal position in bed and read an inspirational book, listen to classical music, or take time with friends to exhale and enjoy... the most exhillirating experience is a long yoga break, then tea galore.. i don't drink, so that's out of my loop..

 

 

how do you guys spend the lonely nights?... 'come on, it's good to share the blues!

 

and while i'm at it, i remember this altered line from nat king cole's song, STARDUST..it haunts me till now-- the melody, the words--- especially when my grandpa used to play this on his oldie radio station/ tape recorder back then...

 

being that as it may, this prompted me to use this word as the theme for my contest...it is now posted on PS.. after finishing this blog, i'll click on youtube and allow NAT to serenade me...

 

do hop in and let the stardust ( not the movie) glaze your pen!

 

well, back to lonely nights... show and tell?

It was fun reading all these different responses. I have to say mine are probably reading books (historical, hist. fiction, and the Bible) and playing music in a minor key. I normally revert to the piano and use some really smashing minor chords.

Nette....i think of all the things in my life i am grateful for....two wonderful, devoted daughters who love me....helpin' Ma now that Pops passed.....makin' people smile....then.....when desperate...i connect my mind with the universe and write through the conduit of connectivity....jimbo

Thank you all..you gave me grreat ideas as to how to deal with those wretched nights, yay!.. yup, music, friends, books, FOOD, technology, family, andpets help... i found out that people go online for hours as their coping mechanisms.. and yes, a drinking binge is another popular escape... enjoyed your shares, drake, carrie, craig, riben, andie, charm, debbie, heather, deb... whoo!..:)pm

Well nowadays I'm not so lonely as before as there is a special someone I live with...however there are times when my mind takes me far away and then I like to listen to sad songs and sing LOUD! Also ice cream helps!!!And I agree with Debbie below ...my kitty surely helps too!

When im very lonely..I write..I eat more chocolate than ever..I cry on my pillow and let it all out..Sometmes i listen to love songs..sing along with them..haha : ) or other times i stay in foetal position too..with my pillow hugging my face till i fall asleep : )

Nette, I'm with you - Tea is my comfort drink. (Unless it's Christmas time.. then it's hot chocolate with Baileys!) I like to either curl up with a favourite book, movie, or record. If I'm feeling particularly blue, then writing usually helps me rid my mind of poison! And Plan B is always my sister, who also happens to be my best bud. She always knows how to cheer me up.

"Stardust" is an old favorite, that takes me back to my childhood.....from an old record collection that my mother loved! And I grew to love it, and learned to play on the piano. So beautiful, and haunting.....and now it is ringing in my mind. Thank you Nette for the memories! How do I spend those lonely moments....? If I want to relish and indulge myself in a bit of "pity"..or "nostalgia" or selfish alone time.....it will be with music playing, (old ballads or something like Samuel Barber's or Albinoni's adagio's......and those are reallllllly sad!!) sitting in the dark, and feeling the music deeply, until those emotions pass). Sometimes it is just good to indulge yourself!!

I spend it playing Super Mario Brothers, Tetris, & other games on my Nintendo or other system. Also, I'll order pizza delivery and eat a few servings of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, because I can! ;)
