Why would I want to vote

Why would I want to vote?

I watched the news this morning
And oh, those politicians
So much corruption going on
I’ve come to a decision
That voting, it is not for me
Who the hell can I trust?
I don’t care much any more
But vote, they say, I must.

Out here, they make us vote in pencil
That don’t seem right to me
Cause pencil it can be erased
So then how can it be
That we should trust these guys so much
Do they think us folk are fools?
Because we all are far too mellow
And don’t complain at all.

To my idea, there’s just one party
Though they tell us there are two
Yet both, they play the same old game
It’s really nothing new
They work to keep the rich folk richer
While the poor have naught at all
Why would I want to vote for them?
They’re just a pack of fools.

There's politics. And then there's fighting like children. We as a nation must find some type of common ground. Name calling and finger pointing won't get the job done. We have to get back to the basics and find a way to resolve our issues rather than quarrel like bratty children. A powerful message in your poem. Thanks for sharing!...Milt

I suppose the politicians represent the people who vote for them. Maybe we all aught to change, then we may pick more worthy people to lead us...,Thanks for your comments Milt, you are so kind....Peter

Once upon a lifetime, we thought that those in political office were people that we could look up to and find worthy of trust but now I don't think so ...It would be a rare find to find someone who would be trustworthy..Thanks for the visit to my work..Your reviews are uplifting..Sara
