Some days I long for that time
You and I met outside
On your evening break and my workdays end
In the lot, a quarter from the end
I sat on the weathered bar
Soaking up the evening sun
While you stood in the shade
Under the adolescent tree not too far
Smoking your cigarette
While I carried on about my day
You observed me in your quiet nature
Smiling as if I amused you in some way
And I paused as a child does
When he becomes aware
Of his viewing audience
In his playful affairs
I rested my chin upon my arms
Lounged on the bar, glancing off shyly
But in the corner of my eye
I saw you smile more widely
Finding delight in my loss for words
The smoking orange glow dove for the earth
I turned my head as I saw you step from the tree
Knowing that peaceful moment had gone
As it had each time previously
I hopped from the bar to find I was wrong
                           You kissed me

This poem is about the first kiss I shared four years ago with the man I'm still very much in love with. *true story*
