Let me inflame the wooden with purposeful words,
Let me become both wheel and sail,
Let me incite, invite, let me ride unversed rails,
Let me ignite stone hearts until they pound,
Let me at times provoke, let me always impart, let me feel,
Let me rewrite injustice, encourage the broken, the frail,
Let me prod so that truth is revealed.

Let me poke at fear until new courage is found,
Let me conspire with light and darkness, make wild shadows,
Let me find the fire that razes indifference,
Let me jab at yesterday, then bait tomorrow,
Let me stoke a blaze that revives the always-sleeping,
Let me spur the awkward into dancing with abandon,
Let me spark an idea, free a thought, turn a head,
Let me spar with the like-minded, respectfully,
Let me needle atrocity, duplicity, ignorance,
Let me goad the lost and lonely towards that second chance,
Let me spill uncontrollable lines, ignore margins.

Let me fill ten thousand pages with abundant love,
Let me prod and wheedle the unmoved until mercy abounds,
Let me pry open every eye closed to the weeping stars above,
Let me interfere with hunger and abuse, churn unholy ground,
Let me affect those whose intentions just slowly rust,
Let me infect the suspicious with the bloom of trust

Lord, let me consume and be consumed for I believe
that Your gift to me lives in every poem You breathe.

How beautiful and heartfelt. I loved this Cyndi....Much like Francis of Assis's prayer.....Lord, Make me an Instrument of your Peace. Your prayer has reached his ears, my dear. Hugs
