The mirror

She looks in the mirror
Afraid of what she’ll see
Old Pain not let go
Affecting her future.

She looks in the mirror
The ghosts of the past
Coming out to haunt her
Not yet laid to rest

What she sees’ in the mirror
It scares her no end.
Disbelieving what she’s told
Cant see how she’s good enough

Living in her dream to long
Reality comes crashing down
How could one such as he
Ever come to love her?

Building up too much
The lack of speech grew
It was too late to say
They’d left it too long

She looks in the mirror
And sees her doom
Never to be loved
The way she does

She looks in the mirror
And sees the blame
She put on herself
Of deaths not in her power to prevent

Never to forgive
Her own mistakes
The dead are stirring
Whispering in her ear

They want peace
But she cant let go
Feels its her
Who should have died.

She looks at herself
The reflection in the mirror
A girl driven too despair
Tears that go too deep

The harm that was caused
By the strength she possess
When she looked into the mirror
She saw the broken pieces.

Facing a terrible sight
She cowered
It should have been me!
Her reflection is screaming

She touches her cheek
Feels no tears
Yet in the mirror
Tears are streaming

Such naked pain
Allowed to surface
I was only 10
She screams

How was she to know
She was only 10
When she died
That fateful day

She put aside her pain
No one gets that close
Till one day he came
And brought her to life

The ghosts are screaming
Surrounding her
Pushing her close
She doesn’t belong with the dead

She looks in the mirror
And sees' herself
The truth starring right back
She begins to heal.
