The making of a loner

The making of a loner

What is it about we human beings
Why is it we’re so low on grace?
They treat one man just like a leper
Cause they do not like his face
I knew a man who joined the army
Did not like there what he saw
They sent him off to a war torn country
Why he fought he was not sure.

He saw his fellows killed and wounded
Made him think in other ways
Then when he spread his views to others
Most did not like things he’d say
Always saying how he sees things
Then folk get angry at his words
They’ve never seen a war torn country
So their souls have not been stirred.

This man he turned into a loner
Left his wife and children too
Took his dog into the country
Just like many diggers do
Who fought they for their blessed country
To be disowned when they came home
Wounded in the soul and body
Doomed forever more to roam.
