The Creators of Ruin

It Seeps From Under The Sediment of Pre-Existing
Quarrels, Tapping The Bone in Search of Reason.

                    - He Bites Hard Into His Fingers -
                              - Warm Copper -

His Dreams Gave a Glimpse of Reality, Told Him
To Focus on Nothing But Learn From Everything.

                     - Give Way To The Waves -
                    - They'll Take You From Here -

He Lay on His Back In The Water, Staring At
Moonlit Clouds, Paving His Mind With Philosophies.

                     - Humans Are Creatures of Habit -
                      -That's Why We're All Miserable -

Sacrificing Pleasure and Indulgence For Familiarity,
And Comfort. We're All Creators of Ruin.

                     - Building and Weaving Worlds -
                         - Of Vague Insignificance -

The last two lines say a lot about life as it can be. Most people will not be remembered beyond one or two generations but their influence is there whether it be for good or bad. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara

I think this is a profound observation of how often we humans tend to stay in our comfort zones whatever they are to each one. I guess it is time to get out of box. :) Then perhaps there is hope for a better future,hey.. This is a great write, thought provoking couplet, very well written. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Caroline.

I love this... especially the line "Paving His Mind With Philosophies." and the way you say that his fingers taste like "Warm Copper"... somehow that gives me a sense of familiarity. The ending was incredibly powerful. It's been too long since you've written... and that's because everything, absolutely everything you create is beautiful. Don't make me go through withdrawals for months again, yeah?

"Vague insignifance" is a good way to describe the self concept one who thinks deeply. Welcome back, Conor! Haven't seen you online in a while and it's great to see you posting again. There are some very keen images in this poem interwoven with a profound philosophical message. Nice work! Love, Carolyn
