The big black cokatoo

Big black Cockatoos

Weeeh!, weeeh! Weeeh!
The big black birds arrive
The biggest Cockatoo’s around
So wild, and so alive
They touch my heart like poetry
As they glide high in the air
I am stunned by all their majesty
As they come from everywhere.

Thirty, forty, fifty
I count, then I lose score
They fill the sky, these big black birds
So many times before
They have flown above my head
As they come both morn and night
And fill me up with blessed awe
As I wonder at their might.

They alight upon the trees
All filled with Banksia flowers
Then tear the trees to pieces
With the force of all their power
As I wonder at these mighty birds
And feel them touch my soul
I let all their magnificence
Join the dusk to make me whole.
