Take Me Back
I knew you a few years ago.
I would talk to you every day,
only you could know
the secrets that I showed.
Did you miss me when I walked away?
I told you that I loved you,
and that I believe in only you,
but then I continued to say
that I think I must go.
I didn't want to seem uncaring,
but I was quietly cheating on you.
For all the times I was talking to you,
my heart struggled with other worlds too.
The battle became too hard,
so I had to choose,
and like the prodigal child,
I took my gift from you
and walked away with it all,
willingly squandering the truth.
I now stand back at your door,
are you as forgiving as they say?
Will you accept me back now?
I'll even become your slave.
I learned out on my own
that you are worth more than this world,
and with that I stand at your doorstep
hoping you'll re teach me the truth.
