Sherry and a Tree

invited to a glass of sherry

A senior said,
At times he felt just 
that last leaf
Fluttering in the

He asked aloud
how come 
the Lord had called 
all his friends
And not yet called
him home

my dad replied, 
that leaf 
may be

the last one, yet,
to the sun -

and restless
in the breeze, 

looks golden, yet
and bathes in 
the world's
