As the fading stars croon, Eos will kneel, But I’ll not submit to night’s harmony, The pelt of the dark is anguish to feel, It chaffs the loneliness hidden in me, Leaving welts of want that only I see. No chariot can flee dreams of a kiss, Forever he’ll sleep, forever I’m his, Desire glows over shadows of the heart, I cover my lover with a pale bliss, Tease him with vows that I fail to impart.
By Cyndi MacMillan, February 20, 2012 For Nette Onclaud’s INTO THE MOOD OF IMAGERY About this Poem Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, is depicted as a beautiful woman with fair skin and long dark hair. She rides a silver chariot across the sky. Her sister is Eos, goddess of the dawn. Selene fell head over heels for a human, Endymion, and so he would not get any older and stay forever within her realm of night, he is destined to sleep forever, dreaming of her.

sweetie, there is no way I'll be fasting. I don't even do it any more for my church. But I plan to give them ten dollars tomorrow for the disaster. You GO girl. You are so great what you are doing.

A beautiful and tragic story you penned. I was not familiar with the story of Selene and Endymion. I also just read they had fifty daughters. I am getting a lesson in Greek mythology tonight! I enjoyed your poem. It reads like a winner. Blessings, Rhonda
