Roofs and Benches

she sits on roofs,
he on benches
fingers touch sky,
feet on ground

she savors fruits
straight from trees
he works hard
to get fruits of labor

leading separate lives
but bound by fate's thread
since birth

...feelings from childhood
could be the purest

dormant yet breathing...

the dreamer,
the worker,
and fate

she still touches skies,
he sits on benches still

both alone
as time moves on...

***just felt like posting something,
an old poem of mine written November of 2010

You are great at this free verse...what a contrasting pair...I was just reading a Halloween poem that I wrote last yr and u wrote that it reminded u of batterflies...ONLY YOU would write something so corny and beautiful at the same time..It gave me a chuckle! I read a poem of Rhonda's about a failed marriage and then I started bawling....oh no...surges of hormones, me help me. hahah. Just wanted to say hi!!! Love, Gwendolen

Interesting poem Nik. Mind-stimulating too! I have been "dormant yet breathing" lately. Love Dalila
