Only an artist’s wardrobe of color and Gesso
ready for a new day. An artists in khakis
and scarfs perhaps some suspenders to
paint and draw the day away. But alas there is
no canvass or poet in this portrait, only a
voice to startle, heavy song in a flat key.
No pencils or charcoal fills the page with
distinction or rouge. For this artist maybe
sixty two years old but inside he is only
a child, spoiled, pushy, moody. His creativity
is stiff and cold like snow. Only a man of 62
that has never grown up to forgive and let
friends be. Only an old shifting man with
broken thighs that can't see any regrest. But
his childish ways keep him stuck with the
canvass along. Flowers, landscapes trees in
wonder seen that only a child can dream
in wonder through the woods so wild and
getting darker to push to grow past the line
when you are more than just a man. Yet
three is where you evermore stayed in
your mind and emotions refusing to
grow into manhood and thus that
voice stays off key forever.
