News world or New sword

News world or new sword

The news came and stayed like a drunkard
waiting for the payday.

The basics of playing out your respective parts
rendered in reversible recapitulations
just did not work out the worldly way.

What you two came through was
none too easy to forget or digest if it is
the correct way of asking who did it.

You exited the evening’s portal
to exist on cravings of the wayside
which was simple enough like a sudden
death, or perhaps like a random gift
or a colossal shift of moorings.

What would have counted was a
little thought wrought on solid strivings
though as tasteless as a nasty gnat.

NB: On a philosophical note on receiving news of an unexpected death.

wanted to tell you how I liked the way you did the title on this one too, Jag. I had not noticed the first time that you only had moved the "s."

I like this S.J - the imagery you've used of a drunkard waiting for pay day showcases the eager anticipation we wait for news of a better world only to be disappointed when the new world changes back into the old one. Well written!
