Her Dreams Were Mine

I saw her from the pier,
she sadly stroked the sand
and gazed beyond the land
into the sky.

The pain within a face,
what sadness takes her there,
a summer's lost affair
she thought was love?

I caught the morning sun
and dared to say hello,
though little did I know
her dreams were mine ...
