Half Moon Run

Sprint little heart beats
never slow
when I need you most
the farther you go.
The heart can be slowed
by three soft words
but when the going gets tough
they are never heard.
Run half moon run
before you wane
the white light chipped
sick solitary pain.
How many days
and how many nights
can anxiety panic
and delicate nerves fight.
How long before
the frame will break
how much cold
can one body take.
The more you retreat
the less you feel.
What I trusted you with
you soon will steal.
