Grief Rises

To live without a human touch
aching with need from morn to eve
cocooned in a velour like clutch
of lifeless items aggrieved ...

Round shouldered risers still curled
about the lost image of he
retreat, retreat, he screams unfurl,
you bring yourself this misery!

Chase not the fading face lost;
seek, oh seek, the smiling phantoms
leave off these tearful days embossed
the wound will heal with prayerful alms.

Stand erect arms outstretched untorn
grasp life without the tearful storms.

    Hey Debs! This ends with a bright and cheerful note..."grasp life without the tearful storms.". I don't think that I've 'tearful storms', though. More like ones that rage with fury. Still it's a sunny, cloudless day.:) I think that one day I'll give the "hybonnet" a whirl! Keep well, Mikki

    There is a lesson to learn between the lines of this poem......we often spend our days mourning someone/something futilely in expense of what is good and whole that might lie right here before our eyes. (Another new form I will have to try sometime)...great piece!
