Grampy's Jar

It's broken now,
The dusty old jar from Grampy's barn,
Hidden behind a pitchfork and a rusty shovel,
Forgotten there many years ago.
The contents looked like shadows behind the glass,
But to me they sparkled like the gold in a miner's pan.
I discovered two glass door knobs, a skeleton key,
An old toy truck with no wheels, and some jacks
With a cracked rubber ball that didn't bounce.
On the bottom, many colorful marbles rolled about,
But, the best discovery that day was that
Grampy knew how to play marbles, and taught me how.

Loved reading of all these treasures of the past Craig and especially your fond thoughts of Grammy.

This is so interesting to hear how some old common item held such value by its contents and the memories of your grandpa!! Very nice, craig.
