From The Ashes of Auschwitz

Telepathic messages dancing in front of me
Energies left by thousands of freed souls
Their train stopped at Birkenau,Auschwitz
Sickening stench of burnt human flesh..
..lays heavy over the consentration camp
recognized even when the wind blew away from it

Like some new mountain range
They rise themself up from the ashes
Shaking the dust off..
The once deadly gaz has gone out
Cremation ashes has turned to cold leftovers
Nevertheless their spirits lives on
They`ll find their own way out
Out of the relentless Nazi camp

Into a world with pure freedom
No greed,hunger or merciless regimes
Nor any blasphemous,persecuting religions
All humans raised above hate and inequality
2 million humans met their fates in Birkenau,Auschwitz
6 000 per day..some days twice as many
From the ashes of Auschwitz..
..comes a cry for us to learn from history

November 30th 2012

In memory of those arrested and sent to the Nazi consentration camps 70 years ago.
November 26th 1942, 530 Men,Women and Children were chased onboard the German
ship "Donau",to meet their fate in Auschwitz,Birkenau.By the end of WWII a total of 759
Jews had been deported from Norway to Nazi concentration camps.Only 25 survived...

Yes, genocide didnt stop there. A very sad fact yet true. What a heartfelt write you have here. it seemed like you poured all of your poetic and deepest mind on your poetry before you took a break. I hope you are ready for the next work. :)

Was Auden right that there was no poetry after Auschwitz? Understandable yet he wrote again. Our ship the 'Marco Polo' moored alongside in Oslo so soon after Brevik, you reminded me of the above. Their and ours 'Hero Generation' of the UN & the the Resistance Movements that defeated Fascism should make us their successors humble yet proud, vigilant and cool headed in defending their legacy. Fine poem Anne Lise, from Peter Dorr. 20/3/13

Auschwitz..i wrote about two poems about it but none as profound as this.. To learn from history..such a wise advice.I visited Auschwitz as a tourist in my teens. It left so much.sad memories i vowed.not to ever return to that ugly truth.

wow, that is a REALLY huge number per day that lost their lives to the gas chambers. Unbelievable. I used to read alot of these stories and about the survivors when I was in high school. I take it that you visited the place. It must really make you reflective, because you wrote a very reflective and sincere poem about it, Arild!
