My pen wanders without my permission,
pokes through arches, peers into glass
for it has its own will and so it has its own way.

I worry sometimes what the dark ink will say
and the riddles that hazy lines evoke,
the laced frissons of reason that crackle
inside a long buried doubt.

Paper, the damned paper, bleeds its skeleton keys,
under its thin façade plays a charade of clout,
odd blunders, for I seek to hold myself in
all while I turn myself inside out.

Sharing too much, fazed by first drafts,
the nib jots its freak show parade,
but fiddles with curlicues and hack rhyme
while it plots its spaces, slants hazardously.

I’m faced with forms which I carefully touch
then embrace, enamored by their timeless craft,
reading the maps, all those ancient, lovely maps
that exploration, stumbling steps, can not deface
and no wading words can ever chaff.

Behind my eyes, below my pulse
are words that hammer

why not why not why not

I let them go
confident. joyful, free,
trusting the true course of poetry.

Dear Cyndi - What a day to stop by. Your formless ink has flown to me and needs no frame to speak poetically. Rorschach knew. love, Kathy

glad you finally got what I was talking about. Kash has sent me instructions how to "taggle" things online?? I guess it's a skill I need to know to be able to navigate better when I lose back key options and stuff like that. So I need to print out what he wrote me and study it when I get some time!

This is classical Cyndi, so serious yet "I don't know' form....i take the point, and it is the poem i read, not the form, which i feel is milked far to often, a snobbery thing i guess.. anyhow i really love this, it is truly awesome...........

Haha! You even purposefully labeled this poem as: "I do not know?". Hmmmm, a very calm, introspective sort of subtle 'slam'(I know, it isn't really a slam. Right? Heh!). I am a hypocrite in that the one form I am pretentious about, is tanka. There's either tanka-tanka, or 3 English(other global languages)sub-categories. But even then, tanka is constantly evolving. It is the Grandfather/Mother of Hokku, but has probably evolved even faster. All other forms are now 'game' to me.

Is there anyone who isn't a hypocrite in some way? Hmmm...
