Crossing the Bridge

A bridge has a no trespassing sigh on it
I don't know what to do
sleeping all day doesn't cut it
nor does merely singing the blues.

I'll try in time to test it by taking down the sign
I'll cross the bridge walking, least its not cross town.
To breath in and see the pine woods all around me
the squirrels and chestnuts fat and round,

Takes me to this divine place I'm glad I found.
The pond I am crossing is alive with grasses of life,
I wonder whose walked here before me or
if I ' m on some sacred path, I really feel no strife.

The leaves are courting Autumn on this soulful day.
The pond has almost dried up from the heat,
which Summer had sent her way.
Now the weather's perfectly sweet.
