                                                At the pile of shoes
                                                the road abruptly stopped
                                                to ascend barefoot
                                                  in a gray eruption
                                                  transformed into ashes

And such an atrocious pile of shoes they were!...It's so strong,..the change of intensity from the 3rd to 4th line...tempo perfect too for such a dark piece of poetic covered the entire slaughtering process in 5 poignant lines...impressive, Ruben..I really like it and I will drag this one off to my favs box. Thanks for sharing it...super appreciate your comments. :) Gwendolen

My University classmate's parents had to go to Auschwitz in a diplomatic mission and they took her with them and visited the Auschwitz place of horror turned, afterwards into a museum... We were in our 20's then and when she came back from there (just visiting) she looked older and she forgot how to smile for a traumatized she was about the past tragedy of the human history. Great Tanka here, dear Ruben. On a lighter note... what feedback do u need from my bunch of haiku nouns :)
