Whilst thankful my soul awakens each morn
Daily living captive between praise and scorn
My soul cries out wishing I’d ne’er been born
Till death’s yet clarion song I cease to mourn

Although my spirit amidst life’s darkest trial
Doth diligently ask despite persistent denial
“Will belief only prevail o’er endless revile?”
Or overcome the Adversary’s irreverent guile

Yet as timeless as life’s journey yearly seems
Confound by nightmares and impure dreams
Prone to kowtow untoward by evils schemes
O’er a lifetime its wicked soul rarity redeems

Tis double-mindedness reign o’er mine flesh
Against a contrite heart’s desire afore enmesh
Its enmity’s siren call my soul must confess
Till heaven’s unmerited pardon so be it bless

For though this wretched soul weekly prays
Its willful heart lifted up by words of praise
Ne’er canst it overcome sin’s abysmal malaise
Hoping tomorrow its fate will not end ablaze

May my soul in quiet peaceful slumber rest
Having faithfully endured every malefic test
To fulfill the book of life’s impossible quest
O’er the ruler of darkness who my soul wrest

For by the Spirit of Truth doth my spirit learn
Every wanton temptation consistently spurn
Knowing in hellfire my soul shall ne’er burn
Upon the Alpha and Omega’s glorious return
