Absolution 1

Like this time-worn tiled roof
Moss-covered, grimy , broke
Patched up in places with
Pieces of cheapest tin
And asbestos, mantling
A labouring lattice

Of rafters, beams , ties
Squatting amidst those
Rising, flashy , fresh
Modern constructs by
A pell-mell highway

I too wait for
To give my space

Ridding it
Of my stiff
Air and stern

And ire’s

Someone took some time out to write some great poetry today...Big city encroaching on the small simple way of life...It too happened where I live..So little is left from where I ran free as a child...Now at the end of this poem, I pray you are not referring to your OWN demolition, but the demolition of a neighborhood...I really like this one, Jag! Superb reflections!...Always your friend, Gwendolen

Hello dear friend, we all need to rid ourselves of unnecessary trappings. Like this old house you describe with such sensitivity, it becomes a task for the brave only. Love, Elizabth
