(a peculiar christ)

the dead man does
no justice,
and yet he sees fit
to bask in his own
perceived lack
of glory,

for one without
he remains receptive,
idly ignoring the
calamitous claims
of those who have
yet to die,

he remains,
if only for a promise,
a covenant of
grandiose reckoning,
a covenant of truth,

he remains,
a dead man,

(a peculiar christ)

Aye. "For Brutus is an honorable man," and a dead one, too. Twisted ambition dooms. I like your message. 'Grats on your feature.

Interesting thoughts that you have conveyed in this featured poem. I could interpertate this several ways with some thought and not exactly sure how you would interpertate what you have written. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara

I love this poem. I see this as praising Christ. Why would he condescend to flesh, why subject himself to injustice, why humble himself before calamitous claims. From an outsider’s perspective, this is “peculiar”. However, for a true Christian, this means LIFE. It’s only peculiar from the “outside” looking in. Let me know if I’m right…

Odd & interesting..ones wonders if christ is the dead man..yet perhaps not..perhaps it's only ...a man who is dead..then why is the covenant "grandiose" this word seems negative? and yet the covenant is true? I would like to know more about your thought. Light & Love
