Just Wondering

Blog Posted:10/3/2022 11:39:00 AM

How often have you been dreaming or lying in bed or out for a walk or simply anything - and thought of something that would be a "Perfect" poem, but then, by the time you get to pen and paper, you've either forgotten it or whatever rhymes or thoughts that made it special to begin with?

I think we have all been there ~ I know I have had a fabulous idea in the wee hours of the night and if I don’t get out of bed to write it down….it is lost by morning. So it goes ….. :)Paulette

Craig, whenever I come up with an idea, I always make sure to write it down so that I don't forget. But as you say, sometimes my mind drifts and I do forget my thoughts. Unfortunately, it's called getting old...lol Stay sharp my friend

Craig, it happens all the time to me because everything is a poem to be created in my eyes, but I forget the details by the time I am ready to write it. Sometimes, if I calm down, it comes back but not always, Constance

Craig this has happen to me many times. I thought of getting a cassette recorder to speak my thoughts before they vanish. I tried writing but you miss a few things. I dislike having a great thought or theme and losing it. Or a rhyme that is perfect that can not be recollected. You wonder how you manage to write. Thanks for bringing this experience to the writers...

I started carrying my phone on hikes for this very reason. Memory of a gnat when it comes to trying to get back home with a line on my mind. Squirrel! Dang, what was I thinking…

I don't have that many fingers or toes. When out for a walk I try to remember my phone both for security and just these times of inspiration. With the voice memo feature I can leave a message. Has helped. Thanks for your musing! Blessings.

Okay, the contest is posted - have a go at it before you forget? BTW, hmm, never mind...OH! I won't accept any entries of poems posted before October 6th - give yourself a chance to create and reconstruct if need be.

All fun thoughts - hmm - perhaps a contest? Yes, the contest will be "The Poems I Never Wrote". Might be fun.

Alas, Craig,I have written some of my best (IMHO) poems and left them dangling on the synapses of forgetfulness.

Yes, this happens often, especially when I first awaken from sleeping, I thought I was the only one!

(Memory): More and more, it's the fog of age, it lingers now even in the sunlight. Remember to have pen and paper next to your bed, you many catch a rhythm or two. Or even a rhyme. 'Just Wondering' great Title craig.

I don't know why you think the fog of ages is at your door, Harry. You have just published your 3rd book and I know you are working on your fourth.

Happens all the time. Sometimes I start one and it is no good but a poet is always observing. Good topic!

Hello Craig, Sometimes i come up with a great idea. I can not write it down right away, I did not have paper or pen. Alos sometimes the idea does not work out.

Happens all the time Craig...but its usually a bathroom thing with me. BTW, "Just Wondering" sounds like the perfect weekly column (blog) for Mr. Cornish... it would probably be very interesting, and a lot of fun... "just a thought".

In my view, it’s the universe telling us that we do not ‘own’ the assumed artistic attribute! A great lesson for our ego actually, suggesting we cease striving with a view to seizing and grasping and shift into the void instead melding and connecting. If look at our forgetting good-humouredly, in all probability, the inspirations drawn in by resonance come back enriched, to delight our heart once more!

Pretty much explaining the gifts of acceptance methinks US ...when at peace, one more easily transitions to the frontal lobes of the brain, naturally occurring during middle sleep, as Tania indicated, where poetry flourishes!
