Shadows Premiere Contest Winner

' When you are not fed love on a silver spoon, you learn to lick it off knives'- Lauren Eden the hopeless frenzy of this wicked hour stares from broken mirrors this fractured visage shaken this worn love, a hardened scab tempting to be plucked and promising not to bleed this time love is such an impatient healer

Scabs and Open wounds , no fun, but lead to scars and great stories, we're talking love, "right". I don't know how this one got by me, I have a lot of reading to catch-up on, great job my friend

Dear Craig, your poem is as deep as the darkest shadows. A soulful interpretation of the quote. There is much to be read between the lines here.. a poem that has me lingering and relishing with re-reads. A fav! Congratulations for your well-deserved trophy win. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Your verse ties in well with the writing prompt. It beautifully blends imagery and metaphor in evocative language to express the reality that love is not readily found and the challenges must be endured. Its loss may be slow in healing; a process that must necessarily run its course. Congratulations on your trophy win, Craig.

Dear craigsz, i absolutely loved reading that ending, speaks so much, maybe sometimes when we are healing from lost love, one needs to remember true love resides within and be kind, and that “ self love is the healer” … i saw someone else use that quote so i see its a prompt. I really do love that quote and i think youv delivered one that is philosophical and deep, not many can grasp unless they think on a deep level like you always do! Maybe im not as deep but i felt it. Pleasure visiting you today! Hope you are doing well. Sending you light always

Hello Craig, cuts deep almost like love itself, both wound and remedy. That relentless cycle of ache, of healing that never quite arrives before the next fracture. I liked your words for they were stark, raw, and devastatingly honest. You’ve carved something unforgettable here, each word a reflection in that broken mirror. Spring Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Scabs are ugly but ever so important to the healing process. Wonderful if not unique metaphor Craigz

I'm jealous! I'm not sure why I haven't put scab picking in a poem. I wish I had, you've made it wonderfully poetic. A fave!

LOL--you're probably a patient scab picker--ew--the first and last use I presume! Thanks DD! Hmmm, just looked at quite a few modifiers in this little poem yet, I pray, not of the embellishing variety?
