This blog is a shout-out to those English Sonnet writers who contributed to an idea that is now a reality. A couple months ago I thought it might be fun to find poets on "The Soup" who would like to participate in a book inspired by the 154 numbered sonnets that William Shakespeare wrote. I'm honored that they shared their heart and their art. I'm also honored to be wrapped in the same pages with them. The following are the poets who made this possible (in alpha order); Greg Barden, Paul Callus, Dale Cozart, Carolyn Devonshire, Andrea Dietrich, Andrew Fairchild, John Gondolf, Deborah Guzzie, Jeff Kyser, John Lawless, Eileen Manassian, Mark Massey, Carrie Richards, Janis Thompson, Wendy Watson, and yours truly. I wanted these sonnets to be nearly pure English sonnets, in proper ababcdcdefefgg rhyme, presented in true iambic pentameter. If you are among the poets here, please let me know either here or by mail that you are aware of this, since the paperback and hardcover will be priced at the lowest price they can be offered for a week. I make no money on this, in fact, it costs me money but I don't care because everyone that contributed can hold their poems in book form - and that is priceless. I congratulate all of those who contributed for your art and cooperation! I will attempt to contact anyone who I do not hear from - you've earned it! I'm afraid I missed reading this blog, Craig, but realized today that the book was on sale when I came across a post by Andrea. I looked it up on Amazon, but nothing came up. I'll try again in the morning, coz now my eyes are half closed (1.15 am over here)

Craig, let me begin by saying congrats to the stellar poets represented in your book of sonnets; the heart, vision, humanity, and technical skills combined in each entry is remarkable. I am roughly halfway through the 154, and with each new sonnet I am just that much more blown away by the talent of these 16 poets. Secondly, let me say thank you for combing through and selecting these 154, what a journey that must have been, and I'm very pleased with the end result. Glad you published this, and glad you let us know with this blog. I love all the topics you came up with for chapters, and how you headed up each chapter with one of the Bard's own. Well done, sir.

Thanks so much John, it was a labor of love as they say, and I was honored to share this collection with such talented poets. Of the numerous sonnet forms, and I respect them all, I always fall back upon the English/Shakespearean as my favorite.

Thanks Mark, as you well know too much of this crazy world is in orbit around money instead of so many things that matter so much more---that said, I celebrate making 28 cents on each book sold--I'll split with you LOL--you know that's true...except I ain't splitin my 28 cents with anyone except the hmmmm---THIS IS WHAT MATTERS--worth much more than so much other BS---BTW, watch the movie CODA--happy tears these days are where it's at

Awesome Jeff - really love your take on life - the most creative and not only are you spot on in form (some think sonnets are boring and many are) but you prove that any form can frame life, no matter how restricted it is, if the right poet holds the pen!

Craig, thanks for letting us know about this. I am honored to be included among the fine poets you listed here and excited to know which of my sonnets you decided to accept for publication. You should show the link to the book. People only need to type in the title at Amazon books. I'll at least get the paperback, which is just under $10 but maybe if I buy other things up to $25, I can get free shipping. Big congrats on this accomplishment of this project.
