Walt Whitman
An extremely talented poet famous for this anthology "Leaves of Grass"
His most famous poem was after the assaination of Abraham Lincoln, titled 'When Lilacs last in the dooryard bloomed'
The very touching part from this poem is-
Coffin that passes through lanes and streets,
Through day and night, with the great cloud darkening the land,
With the pomp of the inloop’d flags, with the cities draped in black,
With the show of the States themselves, as of crape-veil’d women, standing,

Beautiful isn't it?

i think he was hailed as father of american poetry, not sure though.. yes, tahera... one of the mist enduring poets of all time---seasonless! :) huggs!

A great poet and one of the first studied in English Literature class from my recollection as his words were always poignant.. we have a bridge named in his honor in New Jersey where I live Tahera.. nice blog ..will it be a series luv?
