A Smooth Stone

A smooth stone, I stood by the river Letting it flow over me My tears it carried forth My joys left behind Gentle hands ripples brought A smooth stone, I stood by the river Picked up from amongst green moss A life begins, a life ends Polished and kept on the sill Sun glittered all around A smooth stone, I stood by the river In days gone by, gone by No water to carry the tears No moss to pillow the head The sad river fondly remembered A smooth stone, that stood by the river 13/11/2011
