The Gifts of Creation
As I sadly left the greenery of mountain side and verdant valley,
a gift of three was given to me,three pairs of animals wild and free.
The first couple to cross my worn path were two crows upon the grass.
Their squawking antics bringing mirth a mated pair upon God’s earth.
The second pair two chestnut deer, no antlers marked there passage here
Adventure’s lure the gentle hart, Sir Gawain’s companions at Camelot’s start.
Last to appear from the Lord of love A pair of Cardinals red as blood.
to show me balance is what I need, to connect the spirit with the deed.
For sky and earth and sea, I shall praise Lord God the Almighty,
for all the bounty given me, I shall praise the Lord God Almighty.
For fire and metal, gifted free, I shall praise Lord God the Almighty,
for all the bounty given me, I shall praise our Lord and God Almighty.
