Long Live the Queen

Blog Posted:4/5/2020 7:29:00 PM

Just watched an address to all by Queen Elizabeth to the nation and the world and though I'm from the US...no, especially because I'm from the US it hit home because it exemplifies what it means to be "in it together". I've often thought while watching a sci-fi movie and a huge space ship fly over like in the Independence Day movie and everything stopped...no matter who you were and what your position in life was or what you were doing at the time was erased in that moment and we all became one mind and one being with one goal. Our petty differences no longer mattered at all---side-by-side the same team---yes, something hokey about it but something awesome too---we need some hokey---been too much "too cool" goin on that really ain't too cool. Long live the Queen and those that have been around long enough to see and feel and live through so much more of what really matters---we have much to learn - together we can

Craig, I love and respect the Queen, my Queen, Queen of Canada.. God Bless the Queen (the things that her family members do are not her fault). I thought her speech was amazing, that soothing voice brought me a lot of peace and hope _Constance

She's been through it all and doesn't suffer fools, both those fools in the media and her own family including Prince Phillip early on. She is class personified and someone who deserves the respect she has earned.

I watched her address as well... it was heart warming, and yes we as a world are all united as one … I hope and pray brighter days are over the horizon of our tomorrows and the world comes out a better place! hugs and blessings

I know...I was shocked when they said she had only previously addressed the public this way 4 other times...

It's amazing that it's only her 5th televised address in her 68 year reign not including her address to the children of London with her sister Margaret in 1940, when she was 14 and 12 years before she was to become queen.

"We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again." I think she nailed it yesterday.

We will Gary, we've told the family we'll have one heck of a party when this is OVER and it will be - I pray, because we all won't make it through but then we all don't make it through any year, this year, however, will take more of us than most.

When Elizabeth R became queen,I was thirteen having been born into a household that voted against priviledge in all its forms (much of which has happily disappeared here(England) during her reign. Her household over the ensuing years(herself excluded) have shown themselves to be no different to their historic forbears...and yet...she by example of dedication to the obverse of the much talked of 'rights' ie duty.. has shown its constitutional value compared to the ' politicised alternative' that prevails practically everywhere else.Long ,indeed Craig, may she,and her example live

There's certainly been discussion about the value of the monarchy and it's difficult to argue for its value given the circus that surrounds the family but she is the glue and its in times like these that prove value far beyond a tourist attraction. No politics, just leadership and instilled hope.

"Self-discipline, and quiet, good-humoured resolve". Well said, your Majesty.
