The Cardinal and the Rose
a cardinal and a rose
braved the solstice frost,
one blackened, yet both proud
-their ends close, no matter
both sneer at the inevitable, while
their beauty is celebrated
one, a symbol of love
one, a symbol of everlasting
while, a little brown bird
knows a beholder is staring...
