Contemplation
the leaves of autumn
once vibrant against
october's gray slate
and windrowed against
long forgotten stone boundaries
- once kicked
and shuffled through
on the wooded path
that leads to nowhere
...except thoughtful pauses.
now lay an earthy rouge
on the forest floor
fiddleheads lift the
rusty shroud and
remind us of
what we already know...
