Fading Hopes
The twilight shades of fate are slowly drawn;
like charcoal sketches - shadows wrap the day
and while I ponder, all the light is gone,
behind a dream where futile wishes stay.
Now here, in selfish pity, is the night,
where once we danced and swore that love would last;
instead its chills now silently alight
and stings like frost when Autumn days have passed.
Sad truths can leave us hiding in the shade
like photographs portrayed in gray and black,
I'm lost like wistful wishes that I made,
and trying to fill the colors that are lacked.
Still, in the shadows, secrets beckon us
to where we know are truths that we can trust.
