Dog Day's Orchestration
"Do you know the legend of the cicadas? They say they are the souls of poets who cannot keep quiet because, when they were alive, they never wrote the poems they wanted to" - John Berger
tinnitus for the masses ring
an audible in summer sway -
a dog day's orchestration;
long awaited by hungry pangs
like the diners in Zhejiang...
peaceful crickets overwhelmed
yet patience pays for other days
when peepers and the katydids
will sing for food and song and lust
as instinct tells them that they must.
imaginal - sweet frenzied food,
too many years to satiate -
so famished are the years that dried
like the tears that left us there,
with appetite unsatisfied...
