The Cancer Contest

As I was reading and rereading the entries to the Cancer contest I noticed the new TPS contest and Brandy Nicole's comment and it struck me because who am I to be the arbiter of this raw emotion, all with merit and all worthy - in so many ways just as heartwrenching as a eulogy, perhaps more so because they speak to the murderer that stole or is stealing a loved one and there before the grace of God go we. Yet poetry is, after all, the baring of souls, a corner to cry as loudly or as quietly as we wish and to write about something that is often too difficult to comprehend even for poets - mostly for poets, yet we are the ones with the ability to put emotions to words and in the process allow those who can not voice these emotions to know they are not alone. So I, almost reluctantly, judged the contest as objectively as I am capable but celebrate them all equally because, as I alluded, they are all worthy - even those who are not on the ranked list. I will post the results shortly.
