MEDICAL ADVICE...
I don't understand why prescription medicine is allowed to advertise on TV or why anyone would think of trying one of the medicines after listening to the laundry list of warnings of possible side effects. But this is definitely an exception!

Do you have feelings of inadequacy?
Do you suffer from shyness?
Do you sometimes wish you were more assertive?
Do you sometimes feel stressed?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist about Cabernet Sauvignon!
Cabernet Sauvignon is the safe, natural way to feel better and more confident. It can help ease you out of your shyness and let you tell the world that you're ready and willing to do just about anything.
You will notice the benefits of Cabernet Sauvignon almost immediately and, with a regimen of regular doses, you'll overcome obstacles that prevent you from living the life you want.
Shyness and awkwardness will be a thing of the past. You will discover talents you never knew you had.

Side Effects May Include:

Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, incarceration, loss of motor control, loss of clothing, loss of money, delusions of grandeur, table dancing, headache, dehydration, dry mouth, and a desire to sing Karaoke and play all-night Strip Poker, Truth Or Dare, and Naked Twister.
Warnings:   The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may make you think you are whispering when you are not.
The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may cause you to tell your friends over and over again that you love them.

The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may cause you to think you can sing.
The consumption of Cabernet Sauvignon may create the illusion that you are tougher, smarter, faster and better looking than most people.
Chardonnay, Scotch, Vodka or Bourbon and of course Beer may be substituted for Cabernet Sauvignon, with similar results!

Please feel free to share this important information!

Funny but I had no intention of knocking the drug companies here lest this become divisive . There is a much deeper intellectual mix here than on the surface relative to drug companies. Are there many abuses, yes, but there are many good results from R&D as well that would never happen if someone couldn't make some kind of income from it, so what's new about any business? How much has to be blamed on over regulation that keeps the products off the market and raises the expense and carrying costs. How much should be set aside for lawyers and frivolous class action suits. The list goes on and on and is not as simple as surface skimming.

It is absolutely absurd and scares many people away from meds that shouldn't be scared, but nonetheless is required by law, sadly, and has to be stated in ads. This is a great write.

Loved your piece, Craig - I laughed out loud, (as this is a pharmacist's nightmare, and we talk about it constantly, explaining to customers). Here's the deal - They list all those reactions/interactions/contraindications because they are required to by law, no matter what it is, and if only ONE out of a million people had a particular reaction to a medication, they have to report it and issue a warning. That means, literally, that if someone took the med, had a heart attack afterward that was caused by something ELSE, (or it wasn't clear what it was caused by), it has to be reported, even if it's the only time it EVER happened.

Wow, I can't tell you how much respect I have for you right now, Greg. Yes, it is very sad that it is really about the bottom line (profit) and not always in the best interest of people. God bless you.

The pharmaceutical manufacturing business has some very twisted priorities, Becca, all tied to PROFIT, sadly, not the health and welfare of human beings.

Isn't it weird that they have to list all that even if there is no correlation, yet they still refuse to admit that vaccines can and do cause autism.

I've been taking different sleeping pills. and all have stopped working for me. If you can let me know a pill for THAT, I am game. It's getting hard getting by on only 3 hours sleep a night lately.

I actually read a religious book the other night , very boring and it didn't help. But last night I took temazepan, and the anxiety went away. Ahhh, bliss!!

I do that with tv volume on low and sometimes it helps!! I have sent Greg a soupmail asking him about various pills. Can't seem to find the one that works. All the natural things do not do it for me. Anyway, I appreciate your concern. Maybe the book thing will work for me again tonight!

Also get some "white noise" even if it's a fan running---doesn't have to be blowing on you---just the sound is restful

Been there, done that. (all the things you mentioned. Once in a while they help) Anyway, last night I simply did what my mom does . I brought a lamp into the room and read a book not too interesting. I actually fell to sleep!!!

Andrea - there are only a couple of effective over-the-counter sleeping meds, diphenhydramine, (which is Benedryl, and can be found in Exedrin PM or ANY of those "PM" meds), or melatonin, which is an herbal-based med and much safer. Diphenhydramine is good for making you drowsy, but it often can act as a stimulant to the respiratory system later on, and agitate sleep/dreams. There are many prescription meds used for sleep, and they all have some serious potential for abuse, so can only be taken for a very limited amount of time. My dad swears by melatonin, (as do a number of people I know), but it never did anything for me. I am a pharmacist, if you ever have any such questions. :-)
