Quietus poetry contest judged

Thank you Soupers for participating in this new format. Judging by the feedback, it seems some found it tricky, although to my mind it is simple and straightforward, requiring the poet to express himself in 9 lines, with of course certain rhyme and syllable constraints as also using a refrain.

I wanted to continue with contests in this form but after a while. Thanks to all who participated with some great entries!

Have a look at the next contest 'Dawn' in Quatern form.

Thanks for that fun contest. It was a little difficult but I'm glad I tried it. Yes, the rhyme will certainly have to be near rhyme for baggage!!! Even then, I am thinking what to use!!

I've just had a look at your new Quatern contest...you sure chose a doozy of a word to rhyme. Challenging, to say the least, with a saving grace of near rhymes allowed.

agreed. If using a pure rhyme causes the meaning to be lost, and that dog has no bite. lol

True Jenna! My honest view is that rhymezone.com narrows rhyming word choice drastically. I’m no expert but I’d say if the meaning of what is sought to be conveyed is lost in exact rhyme search, then perhaps the tail is wagging the dog :) of course purists will disagree

Thanks for your brilliant entry Constance! Hope you like the Quietus form for day to day use as well! In these days of short attention spans, compact poems (example, Dizain) seem to be the answer
